Heating and hot water are non-negotiable in a working primary school — so when the plant serving Craigton failed, this became an emergency. There was no time for a drawn-out programme: the school needed its heating and hot water restored quickly, but properly, with new plant installed to current standards rather than a temporary patch. Stein Group mobilised its own mechanical team to replace the failed plant fast and close it out with full certification.
Working to an emergency timescale, the team installed two new 200kW Hamworthy boilers and a new commercial gas-fired water heater, connected up with new pipework, valves and a fresh control panel to run the installation reliably. Gas supply and flue arrangements were brought up to standard, and the plant room was set out as a clean, maintainable installation.
Despite the pace, nothing was cut short: the works were commissioned and certified on completion, so the school inherited new, standards-compliant plant with a properly evidenced installation — the basis for planned maintenance and compliance going forward.
