Home/Case Studies/Dalkeith Extra Care Facility — Plant Room Upgrade

The brief

A plant room is the engine of a building, and the one serving Dalkeith Extra Care Facility had aged past the point of patching. It needed a full upgrade — not a repair, but a comprehensive strip-out and rebuild that would bring the whole installation back up to current standards and leave it properly documented for the years ahead, all while the care facility remained in use.

What we delivered

Stein Group's mechanical team stripped out the ageing plant and installed a complete new set of primary equipment — boilers, pumps, valves, pipework and controls. The refurbished plant room was brought up to current standards throughout, engineered for reliable operation and straightforward maintenance.

Crucially, the works were closed out with a full asset register and certification, so the client inherited not just new plant but a clear, documented record of exactly what is installed — the foundation for planned maintenance and compliance going forward.

The outcome

A fully refurbished plant room brought up to current standards — new boilers, pumps, valves, pipework and controls installed, commissioned and certified, with a complete asset register handed over so the installation can be maintained and evidenced by Stein's own maintenance team.
